Cover Supervisor – Secondary

Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £95–£130 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications
Contract: Full-time, Long-term Temporary
Start: September 2026 – immediate/as soon as possible

Teach Now is recruiting a capable Cover Supervisor for a secondary school opportunity in Hertfordshire.

You will supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring pupils complete pre-prepared work and that lessons remain calm, focused and productive.

Responsibilities

• Supervise KS3 and KS4 classes across a variety of subjects.
  
• Deliver work prepared by the class teacher.
  
• Explain instructions and keep pupils focused on assigned tasks.
  
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  
• Record any issues and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  
• Support departments and pupils where additional cover is required.
  

Requirements

• Previous classroom, Cover Supervisor, TA or youth-work experience.
  
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  
• Confidence supervising groups of secondary-aged pupils.
  
• Good general literacy and numeracy.
  
• Reliable, organised and adaptable approach.
  

This could particularly suit experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates considering teaching or existing Cover Supervisors seeking a new school.
