Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or aspiring teacher looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity within a supportive secondary school?

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisor to join a large and welcoming secondary academy located on the outskirts of Luton and Dunstable, close to Caddington.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is confident managing a classroom environment. The role would suit an experienced Cover Supervisor, a graduate considering a career in teaching, or an individual with strong classroom and behaviour-management experience.

The school is a large, mixed Church of England secondary academy and sixth form, educating students from 11-19 and serving the local community around Caddington, Luton and Dunstable. It is part of a Diocese of St Albans Multi-Academy Trust and has a strong Christian ethos centred around creating an environment where students can flourish academically, personally and socially.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning when teachers are absent.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring students remain on task

• Maintaining a positive, calm and purposeful classroom environment

• Managing behaviour in line with the school's expectations and policies

• Supporting students with their learning and encouraging participation

• Providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate

• Ensuring students complete the work set by their usual teacher

• Supporting the wider pastoral and academic environment of the academy

• Following safeguarding procedures and promoting student well being

• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and the wider school team

You do not necessarily need to be a qualified teacher for this position. The school is looking for someone who is confident working with secondary-aged pupils, can establish positive relationships and is able to manage a classroom effectively.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Tutor, Instructor or Teacher would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
