Job Description:

Role: Test Engineer
Type: Contract (Outside IR35)
Location: Bedfordshire, UK  (Remote hybrid with 1-2 days)
Duration: 2 months (Likely extension)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join a fast-paced Agile delivery team working on mobile and operational platforms. This is a hands-on testing role focused on ensuring high-quality releases through functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, API, and data testing activities.
You'll work closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Business Users, and the Test Lead to validate solutions, identify defects, and support successful releases into production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and maintain functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios.
• Validate user stories, business processes, and operational workflows.
• Perform testing on real mobile/handheld devices.
• Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman.
• Validate system and application data using SQL queries.
• Raise, track, and manage defects through to successful resolution.
• Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and release readiness.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and quality standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Test Engineer within Agile delivery environments.
• Strong background in functional and exploratory testing.
• Experience testing mobile applications and user-facing systems.
• Hands-on API testing experience using tools such as Postman.
• Good SQL skills for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Strong defect management and reporting experience.
• Ability to engage confidently with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Proactive, pragmatic approach with the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within retail, hospitality, or frontline operational systems.
• Exposure to workflow-driven or configurable platforms.
• Knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks.
• Experience supporting large-scale business transformation or digital programmes.
