SEN Learning Support Assistant – Early Years

Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £25,614–£26,427 – annual salary basis and any pro-rata adjustment to be confirmed
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary; part-time applications considered
Start date: 21 September 2026
Hours: Monday–Friday; exact paid hours to be confirmed

Help young children feel included, build confidence and enjoy their first steps in education. Teach Now is recruiting a caring, enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join an Early Years class at a welcoming primary school in Hertfordshire.

You will support childrens learning and social development, adapting your approach to their individual needs and helping them participate in classroom life.

Your responsibilities

• Support children with additional needs during classroom activities, play and less structured times.
• Plan, deliver and monitor individual learning activities under the class teachers guidance.
• Encourage communication, social skills, confidence and independence.
• Help create a calm, welcoming environment that supports each childs needs.
• Share observations and progress with the class teacher.
• Provide 30 minutes of lunchtime support each day.

What were looking for

• A kind, patient and flexible approach to working with young children.
• A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Strong communication and written skills.
• An understanding of individual learning needs and a commitment to inclusion.

Experience in an Early Years, SEN or Learning Support Assistant role is desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
