Job Description:

Pastoral Support Lead

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: £28,598–£31,022 pro rata (Scale 5, Points 12–17)
Hours: 40 hours per week, term-time plus 2 weeks ( Monday to Friday 8.30 – 15.30)
Start Date: As soon as possible

Class Education are working with a fantastic secondary school to recruit a Pastoral Support Lead to join their pastoral and behaviour team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping to create a calm, safe and positive learning environment.

The Role

As a Pastoral Support Lead, you will work closely with Heads of Year, pastoral staff and senior leaders to support outstanding student behaviour, welfare and conduct across the school. You will have a varied, ‘roving’ role, responding to pastoral and behaviour needs where required.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and promoting high standards of student behaviour and conduct.
• Challenging poor behaviour and uniform infringements confidently and consistently.
• Supporting the effective implementation of behaviour, rewards and sanctions.
• Running detentions and supporting student interventions.
• Supervising students during break and lunchtime.
• Supporting the pastoral team with behaviour and welfare matters.
• Providing effective administrative support.
• Supporting safeguarding and the wellbeing of students.
• Providing First Aid support when required.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working within an educational setting and will be confident working with young people in a busy school environment.

You will need:

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• The ability to remain calm and positive under pressure.
• A flexible and proactive approach to work.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a pastoral team.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience with Bromcom, SIMS or CPOMS would be advantageous.
