Legal Secretary – Public Family

up to £30k

Luton (LU1) | office-based

We are working with a respected law firm in Luton who are looking to recruit an experienced Legal Secretary to join their busy Public Family team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous public family experience within a law firm who enjoys providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support in a client-focused environment.

The Role

Working closely with solicitors within the Public Family team, your responsibilities will include:

• Audio and copy typing legal documents, reports and correspondence.
• Preparing public family documentation, including Legal Aid applications, Part 25 applications and attendance notes.
• Assisting with Legal Aid billing and cost recovery.
• Preparing court bundles and maintaining accurate case files.
• Managing correspondence, telephone calls, diaries, appointments and court deadlines.
• Liaising professionally with clients, courts and other third parties.
• Ensuring files and documentation are maintained in line with relevant procedures and regulatory requirements.

About You

To be considered, you must have previous experience working as a Legal Secretary within a law firm’s Public Family team. You will also have:

• Strong typing and document production skills, ideally with a minimum speed of 50wpm.
• Experience of audio dictation and legal document preparation.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
• A professional and friendly manner, with a strong commitment to client care.

This is a full-time, office-based position, working Monday-Friday 09:00 – 17:30.
