The Role of KS4 English Teacher

As a KS4 English Teacher in Hemel Hempstead, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible English lessons to secondary-aged pupils, supporting them to develop their literacy skills and work towards meaningful qualifications.

Key responsibilities for KS4 English Teacher include:

• Planning and delivering creative, differentiated English lessons across Key Stage 4.
• Supporting pupils to develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
• Preparing students for relevant GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications, where appropriate.
• Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate assessment records.
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and families.
• Promoting positive behaviour, confidence, independence and a love of learning.

The Ideal KS4 English Teacher in Hemel Hempstead will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English at secondary or Key Stage 4 level.
• An understanding of SEN and the barriers some young people face in education.
• The ability to differentiate lessons and adapt teaching to individual needs.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, resilient and flexible approach.
• A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.

Experience within a specialist SEN setting would be advantageous, although candidates with mainstream secondary experience and a genuine interest in developing their SEN practice are also encouraged to apply.

• Permanent, full-time teaching position.
• Competitive salary of £39,000-£55,000 per annum.
• January 2027 start date.
