Job Description:
Are you an experienced administrator looking for a varied HR role within a supportive and established HR team?
We're looking for an organised and proactive HR Administrator to join the Altro Group, on a 15 month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave, supporting both Altro and Autoglym. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering an efficient and professional HR service across our business. We would be looking for the successful candidate to start in early December 2026. This is hybrid working role, where there is a requirement to be in offices based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire 3 days a week.
No two days are quite the same in this role. You'll provide essential administrative support across the employee lifecycle and work closely with the wider HR team to ensure a first-class service is delivered to employees and managers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining employee records and acting as a superuser of our HR and Payroll system (XCD).
- Producing regular and ad hoc reports.
- Preparing employment offers, contracts and associated documentation.
- Supporting onboarding, contractual changes and employee departures.
- Monitoring key employee milestones including probation reviews and anniversaries.
- Managing the HR inbox and responding to HR-related queries.
- Raising purchase orders and processing invoices.
- Supporting Occupational Health administration, including referrals, appointments and health surveillance records.
- Sending employee communications and drafting HR correspondence.
- Providing administrative support to HR Business Partners and the wider HR team.
- Covering Recruitment Administration activities when required.
As well as an exciting opportunity and a competitive salary, what do we have offer?
- Holiday entitlement starts at 25 days (pro rata); if you need a little extra... you can buy some more.
- A defined contribution pension scheme available for all staff
- Hopefully never needed, but from day one you will be covered by our life assurance scheme
- Occupational Sick Pay and an onsite Occupational Health Service
- Confidential 24-hour life management and personal support service for you and your family
- Free eye tests are available for all employees
- A paid day off each year to take part in our volunteering scheme
- Learning and Development - training and development support, no matter where you are in your career
- We offer long service awards to all our employees
- A variety of social events across the group, including the company Christmas party.
- It might be a long way off but we know it’s not always easy to stop working so we provide advice and support to ease the transition to retirement.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who enjoys being organised, takes ownership of their workload and has a genuine interest in providing excellent HR support.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous HR administration experience within a busy HR environment.
- Experience using HR systems and databases.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English.
